Jamila R. Davenport
Jamila R. Davenport is an emerging multimedia documentarian who shares narratives digitally across internet platforms. Born and raised in Durham, she graduated from North Carolina Central University ('98) with a B.A. in Visual Communications and received her B.F.A from Savannah College Art & Design ('01) in Graphic Design. Once moving back to North Carolina, she reconnected to both her home & community through volunteering, which fuels her passion for authentically documenting unique points-of-views from diverse voices. She has designed several NC Central University publications, produced a national podcast with “Storymakers: Durham,” participated in Triangle's “Black on Black” collective and exhibitions, and is currently managing the visual content creation for the “Beats + Bars” Hip Hop Community movement.
