Teach the Teachers: How Documentaries Build Bridges to a Larger World

Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 3:00pm to 5:00pm

The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival's new virtual Teach the Teachers professional development and documentary literacy series has already served dozens of classrooms around the globe and reached over 90 educators from 9 different countries and 11 U.S. states, including Puerto Rico and Washington D.C.

The next professional development webinar is "Film Trip: How Documentaries Build Bridges to a Larger World," coming May 2021:

In these times of tightened school budgets, it's very difficult to plan and execute a field trip for students. And while documentaries will never be a replacement for the authentic experience of a field trip, they can, like the best films, transport students to a place and time far away from the modern classroom. Not only that, but documentaries, with their frequent focus on personal stories, and often stories of people of color or everyday folks who may be left out of textbooks and novels, that connect to a larger historical narrative, are effective tools to connect students in your classroom to a larger world. A Zoom link will be shared the morning of the event.
