Lois Deloatch

Lois Deloatch has a nearly three-decade-long career in higher education, philanthropy, and the arts. After two decades as a fundraiser for Duke University, Deloatch served as vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement and executive director of the NCCU Foundation at North Carolina Central University. Currently, she is philanthropy director at the Center for Responsible Lending, a Self-Help affiliate that works nationally to ensure a fair financial marketplace for vulnerable communities. In 2013, she founded Northampton Partners LLC, which provides consulting services focused on presenting, preserving, and advancing African American arts and culture. As a professional vocalist and songwriter, she has appeared in concert throughout the United States and internationally. Deloatch earned a B.A. from the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill and an M.A. from Duke University. She is a trustee for the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, board member of the Durham Tourism Authority and a member of Duke Health System’s Chancellor’s Community Health Advisory Committee. She and her husband, Ed Gomes, Jr., are longtime residents of Durham.
