Amani Ahmed is a rising senior at Duke University, majoring in visual media studies and information science and studies. She served as a member of the Library Teen Advisory Board and a teen representative on the Board of Trustees for the Princeton Public Library and also served as chair of Teens4TASK (a soup kitchen in Trenton, New Jersey). Ahmed has completed internships at the U.S. Department of State, Skai Blue Media, and NBC Universal Media. She currently serves on the Library Undergraduate Advisory Board at Duke University and contributes content to the technology and media company The Tempest, where she previously worked as an editorial fellow. Ahmed tutors for two organizations—Supporting Women’s Action (SuWa) and Duke Injaz—that support the educational needs of refugee communities in the Triangle area. She is also an active member of the Duke Business Oriented Women (Duke BOW), a professional and social community of female undergraduates and alumnae who aim to prepare their members to become leaders in business. This summer, she is interning in the Program Operations and Worldwide Distribution department of the Showtime Network.
