Felicity Palma

2022 Cassilhaus Travel Fellow

A 2019 graduate of the MFA in Experimental & Documentary Arts (MFA|EDA) program at Duke, Palma received the 2022 Cassilhaus Travel Fellowship, a partnership between arts incubator Cassilhaus, the MFA|EDA, and the Center for Documentary Studies. Created with the idea that travel can be transformative in the life of an emerging artist, the biennial $10,000 fellowship supports MFA|EDA graduates for an eighteen-month period in their artistic research and practice. (Here for more information on Palma's planned fellowship project in Italy.) Palma is an image-based artist and curator whose research considers human mobility and stasis, place, and myth-making through the intersections of documentary, performance, and experimental time-based practices. She is predominantly concerned with the social construction and fluidity of borders, tourism as performance, notions of belonging, embodiment, alienation, and the senses.
