Julie Morris

Board of Directors

Julie Morris is a longtime leader and advocate for the arts nationwide. Splitting her time between Raleigh and Los Angeles, she became involved with CDS and Full Frame in 2015 and is currently a member of the Full Frame Advisory Board. Morris is also on the PlayMakers Repertory Company Advisory Board at UNC–Chapel Hill, is a longtime board member of the national nonprofit Theater Communications Group, where she sits on a special task force for board governance, and is an active member of the Cultivist, an international art access group. Morris is a member of the International Documentary Association (IDA) and a member and regular attendee of The Aspen Institute and the institute’s Society of Fellows; in addition, she serves on the board of the Aspen Brain Institute (subcommittee for the "Brain Lab Expert Series.") In Los Angeles, Morris is a member of the Director’s Circle and Film Society at the LA County Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, and Hammer Museum, and is a member of Champions at KCRW, with a particular interest in the work that the latter is doing at the intersection of radio and documentary; she serves on the topic advisory committee of Visionary Women Los Angeles and is on the Curators Council at the Institute of Contemporary Art LA. She has also been involved in arts organizations in Kansas City, serving as a board member for the Coterie Theatre, twice serving as co-chair for the Kansas City Repertory Theatre Gala, and serving on the Society of Fellows Board at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for three years. In addition to the arts, Morris is committed to youth programs, acting as an advisor for Tips and Trips on Campus and having worked on the auction committee at Pembroke Hill School, chairing it in 2013. Her other contributions include working on the planning committee for the 20th Anniversary of Bridging the Gap, Kansas City, and the Development Committee for Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Missouri.
