CDS Renews Partnership with the "Oxford American" for Online Publication Series

Throughout 2017, the Center for Documentary Studies (CDS) contributed to the Oxford American’s then-new online publication series, The By and By, as part of the magazine’s 25th anniversary celebration. CDS will continue as a regular contributor to the series in 2018. Every Thursday, February through December, the OA website will feature a rotating lineup of stories contributed by CDS and new works by Leesa Cross-Smith, William Boyle, Meghan Plummer, Julien Baker, Frederick McKindra, and Bárbara Renaud González. Read more information from the OA on the 2018 series.

CDS's first story for the OA in 2018 highlights Lange-Taylor prizewinner Katherine Kim for her work on Severance, her ongoing exploration of one of the world’s most dangerous geopolitical borders—a visual “novel” that incorporates text and archival and family photographs to trace a personal and political history of the Korean peninsula’s Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

Our landing page for the By and By series will continue to collect stories contributed by the Center for Documentary Studies as they're published, and includes an archive of our stories for the 2017 series, including stories about our Peabody-nominated Seeing White podcast series and National Book Award–nominated book The Blood of Emmett Till by CDS senior research scholar Tim Tyson.
